Southern Crescent lies a half-mile south of the Village at Galisteo Basin Preserve, a conservation-based mixed-use community that will support the proposed 12,800-acre Galisteo Basin Preserve. As one of three conservation neighborhoods in the Preserve, Southern Crescent includes larger home sites that connect residents directly to the land, link to the greater community, and help make possible the preservation and stewardship of the Preserve.

The Galisteo Basin is internationally celebrated for its fragile ecology and its incomparable scenic, cultural, and wildlife habitat resources. Sales of Southern Crescent home sites—together with the Galisteo Basin Preserve's West Basin, New Moon Overlook, and Village—will underwrite permanent protection of thousands of acres of publicly accessible open space. In addition, these property sales will support habitat restoration within the Preserve's primary watershed and grassland areas.

Because of its location near the Village, Southern Crescent, in particular, combines open-space living with important community connections. Residents will be surrounded by the nationally significant Preserve and minutes from the civic, educational, and commercial amenities of the Village center.

Planned in accordance with the highest standards of conservation development, Southern Crescent is intended to limit the impact of new construction on the region's many resources. Each home site has been designed with sensitivity to its environment, while also offering privacy and seclusion. A carefully defined set of covenants and restrictions will guide home building in a manner exemplifying the energy efficiency and water conservation values of green development.
